A Jacksonville mother has been charged with child abuse after fighting a pre-teen at her daughter’s middle school.

Edith Riddle was apparently wearing a boxing glove on her hand throughout an entire meeting with her daughter and the vice principal at Dupont Middle School. According to a police report, she told the school the glove had been superglued to her hand and could not be removed.
If there’s any truth to that, it’s awfully convenient that Riddle then had that glove at the ready when her daughter detoured through the cafeteria on their way out of the school and picked a fight with another student.
According to KVUE, Riddle’s kid shoved the other student to the ground and punched her, before Riddle joined in the fight and punched the student repeatedly herself.

A different report from Action News Jax claims that there was a man with Riddle involved in the fight and that they all simply walked into the school through the front doors—and in this version, it was the man wearing the boxing gloves.
No matter which version of the events is precisely accurate, it’s insane that a grown adult (or two) decided to show up at a school and fight a 12-year-old.
And the headlines about it are pretty peak Florida.

The victim was ultimately taken to the hospital to get checked out and her family told police they intend to pursue criminal charges.
