Senator Ted Cruz, always looking for a way to raise more campaign funds, is cashing in on this year’s Spring Break, which is currently causing a crowded nightmare in pandemic-stricken Miami.

Not only is he promoting this rather too late with the cringeworthy “#CruzCrew” hashtag, for some reason beyond comprehension, the shirts and hats feature that awful haircut the senator sported in one photo before it mysteriously disappeared.

Remember the MAGA mullet?

This fashion “don’t” was spotted back in February during the historic second impeachment trial of Donald Trump for inciting the January 6 insurrection. At the time, Cruz didn’t have much to say about the haircut that inspired thousands of mocking tweets, and the awkward shave job seemed to vanish as suddenly as it appeared.

Now we’re faced with a new mystery — why on Earth did Ted Cruz think these shirts were a good idea?

The lack of comment and quick disappearance of the haircut would seem to suggest that it was, as some speculated, simply an unfortunate styling mishap caught in an unflattering angle. Everyone soon forgot about it as other, more important events transpired, but for some reason Cruz is apparently trying to bring it back as though he was proud of the cut all along.

The $25 hats and $30 tank tops feature the slogan “McConnell in the front, MAGA in the back,” as a play on the well-known slogan for the common mullet. This could actually be a pretty solid attempt at trolling the left, because the combination of Ted Cruz, Mitch McConnell, MAGA, and mullets sounds worse than the worst Lynyrd Skynyrd cover band.

Meanwhile, in the Twitter comments, this merchandise is not exactly getting rave reviews. In fact, many people have questioned what kind of Spring Break-bound college student would be caught in a “#CruzCrew” shirt.
