Happy Pride, everyone! We should be kicking it off with a joyful celebration, but instead, we have a story about a group of white women harassing a Black queer couple sharing a little PDA at a Sacramento pool. A video originally posted to The Black Bay Area Instagram account is now going viral on Reddit under the sub r/PublicFreakout. Because there’s quite a freak out in it.

The video doesn’t show the inciting incident. It seems to be filmed just afterward, as the harassers were themselves harassed out of the pool area by people chanting “SHAME” at them. And they absolutely lost their minds.

This homophobic woman kept it pushing, recognizing perhaps that there are plenty of places she can go be narrow-minded where no one will have a problem with it:

And this lady would absolutely not let it go, digging herself deeper and deeper into the shame pit:
“Do you have kids?” she yelled at them, and presumably they responded with the negative because she went on: “Good because you’d be a terrible father!”
The women insisted they asked the couple to stop kissing because there were children present and I guess kids shouldn’t know about kissing. That didn’t stop her from dropping f-bomb after f-bomb, yelling that she’s Jewish (and thus not racist) and not a suburban lady, because she is originally from New Jersey and now lives in Oakland.
To that, the chants turn to “GENTRIFIER” which enrages her further. Eventually, her husband persuades her to leave the pool area, but he gives a big stupid thumbs up to the videographer. Yeah, you really stuck the landing, bro.
For Pride this year, if you can’t celebrate, practice minding your business.
