Anti-Vaxxer Accidentally Promotes Universal Healthcare While Arguing Against Free Vaccines

Video of an anti-vaxxer complaining about COVID vaccines being free in the United States found herself unintentionally spouting off liberal ideas to defend her argument.

Anti-vaxxers have been peddling all sorts of conspiracy theories, including simply hinting at their belief that there is some sort of conspiracy behind COVID vaccines without actually elaborating on what they think that might be, as their dreams of microchips and magnets get dashed by pesky little things called facts.

And it’s the times when they can’t seem to be specific about their “concerns” that things tend to get the most interesting.

“Let me ask you this,” the woman says at the start of the 24-second clip. “If giving out free COVID vaccine shots is ‘the health of the nation,’ then why don’t they give out free chemo? Why don’t they give out free insulin? If the government really cared about people, they would make stuff like that for free.”

If you’re nodding your head along thinking that yes, actually, it would only be fair for the government to give out free chemo and free insulin for maladies that affect millions of Americans every day, congratulations! You agree with the progressive argument for universal healthcare, also known as “what every other developed country already has.”

In fact, the only thing that makes it clear this woman is actually trying to use the idea of free chemo and free insulin sarcastically is the final line of her video, in which she tells viewers the fact that the U.S. doesn’t provide these things “should make you think as to why they’re pushing this ‘free’ vaccine” — (air) quotes her own.

Hilariously enough, she isn’t the only conservative taking this approach to being an anti-vaxxer.

The dissonance is actually incredible, although it would be way more amazing if these people would just…get it.

Of course, there’s still no conspiracy as to why COVID vaccines are free and insulin and chemo isn’t. We are still in the middle of a pandemic and only one of these things is incredibly contagious and threatens to shut our entire economy down, after all. Sometimes the simplest answer really is the right one.
