In another daily episode of “why are human beings like this,” a woman in a McDonald’s was caught on film fighting with employees because they refused to give her a slushie made up of all three flavors they offer. Why McDonald’s enforces some kind of slushie segregation or why any of this was worth getting into a prolonged fistfight over, ending in an arrest, remains an eternal mystery.

The incident was filmed by a man identified by local news as Brian Allen of Ravenna, Ohio, who just wanted a fast breakfast when the fighting began.

“I heard her ask for a slushie with all three flavors mixed into one,” he said. “Whereupon the manager informed her that they could not do that, and she became increasingly irritated and combative and decided that she would go behind the counter and fix her own drink.
By the time he got his phone out to film, the customer was trying to push past a McDonald’s manager and an angry worker who repeatedly threatened to “destroy” the woman if she touched them. There’s a lot of yelling and pushing until the customer gets her arm free and punches the manager in the side of the head. It must not have been a hard blow, as the manager stays on her feet and approaches the woman with surprising calm, telling her to “get out.”
The customer responds by repeatedly telling the people who work there to “get out,” which they probably couldn’t do without getting fired as much as they likely would rather go home than deal with a fist fight over a slushie. At one point, she finally seems to calm down and apologizes, claiming that she’s had a hard day. Then the manager says something she apparently did not like, and she rips her face mask off and storms away, throwing a container of condiments to the floor.
The employee then repeats that the customer has committed assault and could go to prison as she’s being filmed, but said customer does not seem to care one bit.
“Then I’ll go to prison,” she says. “I will go the f— the prison.”
After this, the customer approaches the soft drink machine and puts ice in a cup. Then she tries once again to go behind the counter to make her own mixed-flavor slushie, resulting in a full-scale brawl with the worker wailing on the customer, holding her down by her hair and punching her in the head again and again. The manager tries to calm them down and release the customer, which the employee reluctantly does while complaining that “she gave me a mother f—ing black eye.”

This is when the police arrive, but even this does not deter the customer, who attacks the manager again in full view of officers. She is then handcuffed and taken out of the restaurant.
The woman was later charged with two counts of misdemeanor assault, to which she pleaded not guilty.
Allen, who we all hope eventually got a McMuffin, praised the McDonald’s employees for showing a level of restraint he didn’t think he was capable of.
“If I was in their shoes, I wouldn’t have been able to show the restraint they did,” he said. “You can see from the video that several times, not just once, she physically assaults and or pushes them. And they don’t do anything except for to try to protect themselves. And you can clearly hear the one employee trying to protect her boss as well. I think they both did outstanding jobs.”
Truly, these people deserve better for putting their bodies on the line to defend the integrity of the slushie machine.
