In what might actually be the most despicable response from Republicans to the recent shooting death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins yet, Donald Trump Jr. has started selling shirts that say “Guns don’t kill people Alec Baldwin kills people.”

The atrocious merchandise is a response to Baldwin firing the shot that killed Hutchins on the set of indie film Rust in New Mexico.

The most recent information we have about the shooting suggests that the actor was rehearsing a scene after being told the gun was safe. Without all the facts, blame and conspiracy theories have run rampant, but a breakdown in safety protocols prior to Baldwin taking possession of the gun currently appear to be responsible for Hutchins’ tragic death.

But that hasn’t stopped conservatives from mocking Baldwin, who has been a vocal advocate for stricter gun control in the United States for years.

And while tweets from people like Lauren Boebert and Candace Owens have repeatedly been tasteless and cruel, Don Jr’s attempt to profit off of someone’s death and the pain of all those who loved her, all to take a cheap shot at someone who disagrees with him and parodied his father on SNL, displays a lack of humanity and greedy cynicism that should make Republicans ashamed to be associated with him.

Don Jr. is selling the shirts at $27.99 a pop, and advertised them on his Instagram stories by sharing a photoshopped picture of Baldwin himself wearing one.

So Republicans cry about Democrats “politicizing” deaths in calling for gun control reform following mass shootings, but apparently using an accidental death for jokes, profit, and to take swings at someone you don’t like is perfectly acceptable.

Unsurprisingly, many people are not amused at the jaw-dropping lack of taste Don Jr. has displayed here.

So far, no prominent Republicans appear to have come out in condemnation of this despicable decision. Apparently, this is fine.
