Authorities had been searching for Laundrie since mid-September after he disappeared from his parents’ house without a trace. There has been much speculation as to how much his parents knew, considering they didn’t report him missing until several days later, and, in early October, admitted he actually left a day earlier than they first claimed.

Chris and Roberta Laundrie joined in the search for their son this week, focusing on the Wyakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park and, within an hour, found some of his belongings.
Not far away, authorities found remains later identified as Brian’s.
This wasn’t the first time the park had been searched, and the way things so quickly came to an end following Brian’s parents’ involvement has people asking questions.

One possible explanation for the sudden discovery is that the area where Laundrie’s remains and belongings were found had been underwater until recently, according to FBI agent Michael McPherson. But that response isn’t satisfying everyone.
“If the body had been there when they went by with cadaver dogs, and the body had been there for more than two or three minutes, the odor would have come through the water,” K-9 handler Kyle Heyen told NewsNation following the discovery. “They would have detected Laundrie’s body.”
Meanwhile, Laundrie family lawyer Steven Bertolino, who has caused endless drama throughout this saga, has slammed those uncertain of the way events unfurled by saying his “thought would be anybody who’s questioning that is not too bright.”
“The public doesn’t understand simplicity,” he said, whatever that means.
There are many questions that remain unanswered, in regards to Petito’s murder, Laundrie’s death, and what exactly his parents knew regarding both events.
Bertolino’s entire interview following the identification of Brian’s remains can be found here.
