Conspiracy Theorist Pastor Who Urged People Not To Get Vaccinated Hospitalized With COVID

An evangelical pastor who has been pointedly against the COVID vaccine has now been hospitalized with the virus.

Rick Wiles previously claimed the vaccine was part of a “global genocide” being carried out by “Satan’s team on the planet,” and urged his supporters to avoid the jab. About a month later, Wiles has found himself hospitalized following an outbreak of COVID-19 at his church, Flowing Streams.

TruNews, a Christian organization founded by Wiles and used by him to spread a number of racist, homophobic, and otherwise bizarre conspiracy theories over the years, posted a request for prayers for Wiles on their Gab account.

Wiles made a number of inflammatory religious-based claims about COVID-19 during the pandemic, including saying that the virus is God’s punishment against Jews and insisting that if all Chinese people repent and “put up in their homes the painting of Jesus Christ,” the pandemic would end.

“Lead China to Jesus, lead them to salvation and the plague will stop,” he said in a video directed at China’s president, Xi Jinping.

Obviously, this isn’t how viruses function, and Wiles being hospitalized with COVID-19 is proof of what logical people already knew—it’s not targeting any specific group unless you count those who refuse to get vaccinated and/or follow safety guidelines.

It’s hard to be sympathetic towards someone who has acted so callously towards others over the years and has spent the pandemic stirring up division and discouraging people from getting vaccinated.

And it wasn’t lost on people that Wiles refused to take a vaccine, but wound up in the hospital taking medicine all the same.

According to an update on Wiles’ Twitter account, he was slated to be released from the hospital on Tuesday (“Thanks to Jesus Christ”—certainly not the science-peddling doctors and nurses who treated him), but there has yet to be a follow-up as to whether he actually was.
