Former Alaska governor and vice-presidential candidate Sarah Palin reappeared in the news recently after she posted an asinine little video attempting to portray herself as a brave rebel by temporarily taking off her mask in the middle of an airport. The largely disgraced politician claimed that she was “going rogue” and that she might not “make it home” if she was caught, then quickly put her mask back at the end.

“So I’m on a layover in LAX and I’m going rogue,” she says before starting to fake-cover her mouth with the mask. “I can’t get busted not having my mask on or I won’t make it home. Oh gosh. Okay, before I get busted and you read about it in TMZ or something, I better sign off.”

So anyway we read about it on TMZ.

Of course, there’s little chance that Palin would have been stranded in California even if she had been “busted.” There is a chance she would be banned from a particular airline or even kicked out of the airport for her little stunt, but there are others ways for her to get back to Alaska, even if she had to drive. Also, if she really wanted to go “rogue” she could have at least matched all those people who actually got kicked off flights for yelling their anti-masker nonsense on the physical plane.

According to TMZ, Palin had posted the video on her social media accounts, but the latest post on her Instagram currently is from two weeks ago. Perhaps her airport stunt was just too risky for the most annoying politician from 2008.

It also doesn’t make a ton of sense considering that the last time she made it into the news was when she was urging people to wear masks after she and several of her family members tested positive for COVID-19 back in March 2020, telling them to “use common sense to avoid spreading this and every other virus out there.”

“Through it all, I view wearing that cumbersome mask indoors in a crowd as not only allowing the newfound luxury of being incognito, but trust it’s better than doing nothing to slow the spread, ” she said. “And history will show we Masked Singer visitors were masked before being masked was cool.”

Sorry to remind you that Palin was also on The Masked Singer around that time.

Palin gained a reputation as a hardcore attention-seeker after her failed attempt to become vice president and after she resigned from the governorship in Alaska in 2009. As people tried to forget about her, she signed a deal with TLC for a reality TV series around her family which was initially successful but got old really fast. After that, she did a couple of stints on Fox News but has remained largely irrelevant.
