Family Guy is doing its part to encourage viewers to get vaccinated, and not everyone is taking too kindly to it.

A nearly four-minute video featuring the Griffin family features patriarch Peter complaining about having to get a COVID vaccine, and Stewie and Brian going inside his body to explain how vaccines actually work. It covers the science and logic of it all while holding onto the long-running Family Guy humor, including a deeply necessary joke about Gal Gadot singing “Imagine.”

Show creator Seth MacFarlane went on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to premiere the PSA, touching upon the frustrations of Family Guy airing on Fox when the network is under the same corporation that platforms people like Tucker Carlson and other hosts devoted to spreading COVID misinformation.
“I looked around and I saw everyone else at Fox Corp doing their part to get good science out there and be responsible with their platforms,” he joked. “And looking down the barrel of that kind of peer pressure, I said, ‘gosh, we’ve got to do something, too.’”
While presenting factual COVID information in an easily digestible format may go a long way towards helping those who still fall under the label of “vaccine hesitant,” it’s obviously not going to sway the most hardcore anti-vaxxers — it’s not a Facebook meme or a random guy ranting to his camera on YouTube, after all.
And they weren’t thrilled with the show for encouraging people to protect themselves and others during a pandemic.

But others applauded Family Guy for using the platform they have to do good.
Even Gal Gadot had something to say about it!
