TikToker China Monae (@chinamonaepoppin) uploaded a video on Sunday showing the immediate aftermath of a couple drunkenly operating a scooter and running over her dog in downtown Cleveland. Ms. Monae explains in the video that the couple immediately fled, leaving her and the injured pup. She followed and confronted them.

The man and woman onscreen both appear to be in an altered state. The woman looks concerned, while the man becomes belligerent, demanding, “Where even is your dog?” and insisting he didn’t run over anyone.
Ms. Monae tells him she’s calling the police. The man attempts to pull his girlfriend away and whisper in her ear. The girlfriend looks distressed tells him to stop.
Ms. Monae says the woman “[knows] she was wrong” to run over a dog and flee, and points out that both people onscreen seem drunk.
The video has received over 210,000 likes and has been viewed approximately 1.6 million times.
In a follow-up video, Ms. Monae explains the hit-and-run incident in greater detail:
“They just came up in between me and my dog. Her leash ended up hanging on to the scooter, they ran her over, fell on top of her and everything.”
She says she asked for help, but they ignored her.
Ms. Monae also offers a quick puppy update: her dog has been seen by a vet and is fine, though the top of her head had to be shaved and she has to take antibiotics while her wounds heal.

Since the Chad in the video refused to admit his hit-and-run of Ms. Monae and her dog, Ms. Monae followed up with a third video, this time of security footage that documented the incident.
In the video, Ms. Monae walks a leashed dog down the sidewalk. Two individuals on a single, shared scooter come speeding down the sidewalk, come between Ms. Monae and her dog, get caught in the leash. In the resulting collision, the scooter and its riders collapse on top of the dog.
Monae narrates the video, explaining that she asked for help but the couple focused on getting the scooter upright, then fled. They can then be seen riding away on the scooter in the video.
We’re glad to hear the dog is on the mend. We only wish Karen and Chad would start doing better, too.
