A right-wing cartoonist popular among QAnon conspiracy theorists and known for his pro-Donald Trump drawings has COVID-19 — but that hasn’t changed any of his opinions.

Ben Garrison told Gizmodo that he and his wife believe they caught COVID while dining out with friends in Montana several weeks ago.

“I lost my taste and smell as well as desire to eat any kind of food,” he said. “I lost 15 pounds as a result.”

Unsurprisingly, Garrison was not vaccinated against the virus, and apparently even having a rough time over the last few weeks hasn’t changed his mind. In his email correspondence with Gizmodo he called the COVID vaccine options “gene therapy” and “not real vaccines.”

“We will never take their foul spike protein-producing jabs, which are neither safe nor effective,” he wrote.

A September study shows that people who remain unvaccinated were 10 times more likely to be hospitalized after coming down with the virus, and 11 times more likely to die. While breakthrough cases do happen, the statistics prove that vaccines are, in fact, both safe and effective, despite Garrison’s protests.

And his lack of belief in science extends even further, as he admitted that not only did he refuse to go to the hospital, but that he and his wife were taking “ivermectin and various vitamins including a lot of zinc,” as well as drinking beetroot juice.

Twitter users have expressed their lack of surprise regarding the MAGA cartoonist coming down with COVID, which was first suspected after a newsletter went out from his wife describing “flu like symptoms” without actually mentioning COVID by name.

“This is about vaccine passports, tracking, government control and tyranny,” Garrison claimed in his email, continuing along the same train of thought he has maintained throughout the pandemic.
