TikTokker @Cadie.mae3, who goes by Cadie according to her bio, recently posted a video in which she and her friends giggle behind the camera while an adult woman with a young daughter threatens to fight all of them.

“I took a video, I took a video!” one of them squeals as the video begins. The text overlay reads, “When a ghetto Karen cry’s [sic] over a leaf.”
“Matter of fact, do you want to go outside?” the woman they’re filming calls out.
“I’m a minor,” one of them says.
“Then maybe you should act like one,” the woman snaps.
The woman goes on to accuse the teenagers of “talking s—t,” saying that multiple other customers have observed them. The teens respond that they simply asked her “if she wanted a leaf.”
“Why are you going to fight me over a leaf?” one of them asks.
The woman responds by repeatedly offering to “go outside” with the teenage girls, at one point telling them that her own mother is waiting outside. The woman says that her mother can babysit her young daughter while she “beats [their] @$$[es],” explaining that, “If y’all wanna act like you’re my age, you can do like you’re my age.”
No one in the video comes out looking good, including the adult woman (not wearing a mask) who repeatedly suggests an outdoor brawl with a group of teenagers, and who refers to at least one of them as an “[email protected]$$ b—h.”
However, TikTokkers were quick to point out that the group of girls does appear to be antagonistic towards the woman.

“Answer me this: why were you going around asking people if they wanted leaves? It just [doesn’t] make sense. […] You wanted attention. Don’t deny it. […] y’all did that intentionally to start some problems with some random people to make a video to get a little bit of fame,” says @mersaideznewmanse, whose bio lists her name as Mersaidez Newman Sethman.
Mersaidez follows up by asking, “Does your mom agree with this [behavior]? Or your dad, or whoever takes care of you? ‘cause I guarantee you they f—kin’ don’t.”
Chacola Kato Melliure, whose TikTok handle is @nosebug, asked, “Genuinely, honestly: do white girls not get embarrassed every time they do this? […] When you’re the one that’s harassing people … nobody cares that you’re a minor. You will catch hands like you’re a major. Nobody cares. What the hell? It’s so embarrassing.”

Other TikTokkers concurred. Anastasia Gracia (@_anastasiagracia_) had a smooth voice but sharp words for Cadie and her friends:
“Y’all get on my nerves when you say that [‘I’m a minor’] s—t. Y’all only say that you’re ‘a minor’ so that you can escape accountability and responsibility for the rancid s—t y’all do to other human beings. […] you were f—king with a random person in a Walmart and recorded it, and thought that s–t was funny.”
“She should’ve went outside and curb-stomped your @$$, that’s my opinion. Minor or no minor,” Anastasia concludes. Other TikTokkers backed her up.
@blackbeltbabe pointed out that “ghetto” is a term most often used as a classist and racist pejorative, to look down on Black or majority-Black areas that are usually impoverished.
@myonnalashay, who goes by Myo in her TikTok bio, called out the girls’ appropriation of the term “Karen”:
“I just think it’s so interesting,” she says, “how the word Karen was used by the Black community to just describe a white woman who was racist to them in a store. But then white people came along and gentrified it, and now it’s anyone who disagrees with them in the store.”

Myo addresses Cadie and her friends directly, concluding:
“You called her a ‘ghetto Karen’ … y’all took the term Karen and changed it … that’s not what a Karen means, okay? YOU were antagonizing HER. So YOU’RE the Karen.”
