A video from December 2020, at the height of the pandemic and when vaccines weren’t yet available, has resurfaced, depicting a grown man lying down on the floor of a Costco in Lantana, Florida, and refusing to move after he was asked to put on a mask. The video cut of this tantrum is less than a minute long, but the man reportedly hung out on the concrete for eight to ten minutes as managers and police tried to convince him to peacefully move his unmasked butt outside.

The man repeatedly threatened to sue Costco and police if anyone touched him, and eventually got up after an officer agreed to let him pay for his items and leave, which is surely all anyone wanted from him in the first place as long as he did it while wearing a piece of cloth on his face for a bit.

“This man threw himself on the floor when he was asked to wear a face mask,” the video text says.
“All I want to do is buy this stuff and leave but the government is telling me that I can’t unless I wear a mask,” the man tells the cop who has to kneel next to him like he’s five. “What I want to know is what you want me to do?”
According to Newsflare, the anonymous individual who filmed the video says he was allowed to use self-checkout and then was escorted out by police, who then had to answer to the managers as to why the man was allowed to violate store policy and risk lives because he had a toddler tantrum on the floor of their establishment.
“Outside the manager was arguing with an officer that they should have not let him pay for his stuff,” said the filmer.
It’s assumed that he wore his mask initially to enter the Costco, as has been required at most, if not all, Costco shops since early in the pandemic, and took it off once inside.
Both the original video and the newly posted one circulating Twitter currently quickly gained hundreds of thousands of views. With breakthrough cases and millions of people still unvaccinated in the U.S., mask mandates in private business establishments and by local governments have remained common. The simple act of wearing a mask outside of the home is still being touted by public health experts as one of the best and easiest things that individuals can do to slow the spread of the dangerous virus.
Yet even with over 760,000 now dead in the U.S., mask-wearing has continued to be a contentious issue. In spite of school reopenings being largely blamed for the most recent surge in COVID-19 cases, two of Florida’s largest school districts are relaxing their mask policies starting this week. A populace that is exhausted from years of doing what they can only to have the pandemic spread by those who won’t has little sympathy for the little man on the floor.

I feel bad for the workers that have to put up with this BS every day This is exactly why ppl are leaving these jobs. I left my retail management position for exactly this kind of reason.
