Racist ‘Postmates Karen’ Tries To Block Black Man From Making A Delivery

A Postmates delivery person was trying to bring an order into a California apartment building when a white woman refused to allow him entrance. Jordan Mykel Gipson was simply trying to do his job when he encountered the harassment. He made a recording of the incident and posted the images on Instagram because he was afraid she would call the police on him.

In the video, the woman asks Gipson why he’s wearing a mask (she is not wearing a mask). She then asks him why his Dodgers hat is black. Then she tells him to take off his mask. woman physically prevents Gipson from getting into the apartment building even though he had buzzed the apartment that had ordered the food. Gipson tries to explain what’s happening to the customer, but the woman keeps harassing him.

“I’m glad I was here,” the woman says. “No, don’t deliver anything here. We don’t want you delivering here,” she says, while blocking the door. “I don’t want you, I don’t want you here. I don’t want you here at all.”

Then, Gipson tries to explain on the intercom to the customer what is going on outside. Then, the woman tries to question the resident about the food delivery. The man explains that he lives in apartment 212 and he is getting Postmates delivery.

“A Postmate delivery in 212? 212 where?” the woman asks. Then she says that she won’t let Jordan in but she would bring the food to the resident. “Where do you live, sir? I’m not letting this man in. Can I bring this food to you?”

Gipson then says, “I’m a Black man. I’m trying to deliver…I just want to deliver the food. There are other orders I have to deliver.”

“He’s a Black guy walking around with a clicker to get into any building he wants to,” the woman says. The customer, who by now must have been frustrated, says they will come down and get the food. The woman starts making grotesque faces into the camera and then tries to get into the building—failing to do so. Perhaps she doesn’t even live in the building, it’s unclear.

“I’m tired of working three jobs and having to deal with this sh*t,” Gipson told the Daily Dot. “A lot of what went down in the last couple of days, it reflects what most people with this kind of job — mainly people of color — have to deal with, have to suck it up.”

Gipson’s girlfriend has set up a GoFundMe, as he is working three jobs just to pay the bills.
