Marjorie Taylor Greene is looking like a tool yet again after she used a racial slur while insisting that the GOP isn’t made up of racists.

The Congresswoman was speaking at something called “AmericaFest” thrown by Turning Point USA over the weekend when she decided to try (and fail) to prove that her party is not the party of white supremacists.

“When I walked in yesterday, I was like, ‘What kind of people come here?’” she told the crowd. “So I’m walking around, and seeing some good people, and I see white people, Black people, brown people, yellow people.”

Green continued, saying, “And then there’s talk of freedom, and loving America, and conservative principles. Some crazy people in here were talking about how much they love this guy named Jesus. And I heard, someone I really like, I think a lot of people here like a guy named Donald J. Trump. And then I said, ‘Oh, I know exactly what this is. The left calls this a white supremacist party.’”

“Yellow people” has long been considered a slur against Asian people, dating far back enough that modern day Republicans can’t claim it’s some new P.C. thing — it’s just straight up racist. And it’s particularly egregious to not be aware of that considering the wave of anti-Asian hate that has swept the country in the wake of COVID.

And of course, just because there are some Republicans who aren’t white doesn’t mean that the Republican agenda doesn’t frequently promote policies or ideals rooted in white supremacy.

And it certainly doesn’t mean that none of its members — or politicians — are white supremacists. The only way to prove you’re not a party of white supremacists is to stop doing racist things, and, well…

But with MTG speaking, the whole thing was off the rails from the jump, so it’s no surprise how quickly things devolved.

As long as the GOP gives the Greenes of the party a platform, this is exactly who they are.
