Spirit Halloween Worker Shares ‘Racist’ Costumes The Staff Won’t Sell Anymore

A person claiming to work for Spirit Halloween, the popular costume store, has shared a thread on Twitter under the handle @riverrobby about racist costumes. This is a subject that comes up with depressing frequency around the fall harvest holiday because it seems like some people never learn that dressing up as another race isn’t a costume. It would be more accurate to categorize it as a hate crime.

“Here’s a thread of racist things that the spirit Halloween employees have collectively decided they will not sell at my store,” they wrote.

It’s unclear if this move is sanctioned by management, if they’ve removed all the products below from the floor, or if they’re just refusing to serve any customer who brings one up to the cash register, but it looks like River blocked Spirit Halloween’s Twitter account after their thread started going viral. Hopefully, the company doesn’t have an alt account.

The list below is horrible, but also horribly familiar. This has been an ongoing issue since before people even talked about issues around identity and costume so widely. Refusing to sell this stuff actually might be the only way to stop it.
