Nothing had quite the same familiar and consistent flavor as right-wingers telling anyone who does or says something they don’t like to just up and move to a whole different country if they don’t like it here, as former lawyer Rudy Giuliani did to rapper Eminem on Monday.

In case you missed it, the artist took a knee during the Super Bowl halftime show performance, which many interpreted as a tribute to former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, who was blackballed from the NFL for doing the same to protest the frequent police killings of Black people.

For this offense, Giuliani thinks Eminem should leave the entire U.S. in the dust if he doesn’t like how it is here, suggesting that systemic racism and police brutality are an inherent and inseparable aspect of the country.
“Let’s get right to Eminem taking a knee,” he said on his radio show. “Why doesn’t he go to another country? I mean, go take a knee someplace else. You know how many cops were defending him and protecting him at that game yesterday?”
To be clear, nothing happened to Eminem that day which required him to be protected by the police. Rather, he’s suggesting that everyone in the U.S. is at all times in debt to the police for protecting us all the time, except when they brutalize and murder some of us, which happens daily.
The disgraced former lawyer also claimed that Eminem “made a mockery of law enforcement” by taking a knee and derided the widely beloved artist Snoop Dogg as “Snoop ‘Kill Police’ Doggy Dogg,” just to bring out all the out-of-touch old white man stereotypes.
In spite of some early reports, NFL representatives have said that the organization was aware that Eminem planned to take a knee during the performance and didn’t have a problem with it. As usual, they did not answer why they had such a problem with it when Kaepernick did it, nor did they mention whether Eminem’s being white made it okay for him to do it, but either way, the only people who seemed to have a problem were the usual Republican hysteria sellers.
“We watched all elements of the show during multiple rehearsals this week and were aware that Eminem was going to do that,” said NFL spokesman Brian McCarthy.

Sometimes people even take a knee for reasons having nothing to do with Kaepernick, racism, or police, but thanks to Republicans and the roots of white supremacy in the U.S., we have to deal with this every time a knee hits anything that people tend to stand on.
It’s also entirely possible to criticize a country in the hopes of creating positive change and without wanting to just pack up and leave your home, friends, family, and job, but conservatives appear to have a hard time with this concept in between chanting “let’s go Brandon.” But at least there’s a growing consensus that Giuliani is becoming more irrelevant the more he seems to lose his mind.
