Trump Shares Creepy Video By Actor Randy Quaid: “Fox Is Dead To Me”

Actor Randy Quaid, typically talked about this time of year for his portrayal of Cousin Eddie in enduring holiday classic National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation, is in the news for an entirely different reason. President Trump retweeted a series of Quaid’s tweets on Tuesday morning, including an alarming one in which an extreme-close-up version of Quaid declares Fox News “dead. “

The outgoing President shared five of Quaid’s tweets in total; three of them being recent thoughts from Quaid about the election. In response to Quaid asserting, “Never underestimate The greatest President this country has ever had,” Trump comments, “Thank you Randy, working hard to clean up the stench of the 2020 Election Hoax!” (That retweeted was accompanied by the now-familiar “This claim about election fraud is disputed” tag that Twitter’s been using to discredit Trump’s unfounded assertions about electoral irregularities.”

Two other Quaid tweets specifically make voter fraud allegations, which Trump endorses even beyond just retweeting.

But it’s a pair of retweeted videos raising the most eyebrows. The first, dating back to Oct. 12, has Quaid pulling up a chair, turning it backwards, and sitting down on it to deliver a composed rant that goes more than two minutes, declaring that “Trump Trumpets Reveille” against the suppression of conservative voices, in what might be a community theater stage.

The opening line is, “Is this how America goes? From George Washington to George Soros?” and goes full Parler from there.

The second, more recent video, from Nov. 12 of this year, declares Fox News dead as its thesis. It begins with a close-up on Quaid’s bearded face, bathed in light that flashes rapidly from red to green. “FOX NEWS DAYTIME RATINGS HAVE COMPLETELY COLLAPSED!” he intones. “Weekend daytime … even worse!”

It continues with him giving a slight shake of his head and saying, “Very sad to watch this happen.” Then, after making a bizarre and unintelligible sound, he continues. “They forgot what made them successful. They forgot what got them there. They forgot the golden goose.”

Then, after an uncomfortable chuckle, he adds, “The only difference between the 2016 election and 2020 is Fox News.”

While a number of responses on Twitter were of the “Who is Randy Quaid?” variety, others expressed alarm at both Quaid for recording the video and Trump for retweeting it.

One person notably applauded the retweet, though: Quaid himself.
