MAGA Christians Tear Down California Monolith For Jesus

A new monolith that appeared in California after the one in Utah was removed was pushed over and vandalized by a group of Christian men chanting things like “Christ is King” and “America First,” with at least one wearing a MAGA headband. “America First,” one of Donald Trump’s favorite slogans, was popularized by the KKK around the 1920s, and that’s not the only racist thing about the weird, grainy, blueish video.

One of the men declares that “we don’t want illegal aliens from Mexico or outer space” right before they struggle to topple the monolith, finding that it’s bolted into the ground. They then reportedly replaced it with a wooden cross.

Commenters on the live stream, meanwhile, encourage the men to “TKO THE MONOLITH” and “DROP KICK IT.” Another offers a more useful suggestion: “SELL IT AT THE SCRAP METAL PLACE, BUY METH.”

The mystery of the monoliths started in a Utah desert, where the metallic structure standing 10 to 12 feet high was discovered without any hint of where it had come from. It soon disappeared, though it was quickly revealed that it had been removed by people concerned that it would bring too many people into a largely untouched wilderness.

Another monolith appeared in Romania, then disappeared four days later. The most recent was found in Atascadero, California, near the top of Pine Mountain, and we all know what happened to that one.

The world is still waiting to find out the purpose of these monoliths, with some speculating that it could be some kind of viral marketing ploy or elaborate prank. Others, of course, are thinking aliens (from outer space, not the derogatory term for undocumented immigrants).

According to Vice, the men dragged the monolith down the mountain with ropes after finally successfully removing it from the spot where it appeared. In the longer stream, which reportedly lasted over five hours, the men can be heard “mentioning burning crosses and white power.”

They also apparently believed they were being pursued by a group of people as they climbed the mountain toward the monolith, speculating about antifa with one man suggesting they “grab the cross and beat them with it.” You know, like Jesus would do.

Unsurprisingly, the video is quickly gaining attention across social media, though locals are not pleased by the results.

“As someone from Atascadero, f— the guys who tore it down,” wrote Vincent Lounder, “our little town was finally having something fun and interesting happen and yall bible thumpers just couldn’t leave it alone.” Our condolences, Vincent.
