The idea of getting on an airplane to travel during the pandemic is more than a little nerve-wracking, even with mask policies in place. But sometimes it’s unavoidable, and knowing that some airlines are willing to enforce those policies to the point of actually removing passengers from the flight makes it a little bit better.

And footage from a recent Frontier Airlines flight to Tampa, Florida in which an anti-masker was escorted off the flight to applause from the other passengers shows that the mask policies are in fact, quite appreciated.

Fox & Friends writer Griffin Frank shared a video seemingly captured by a friend of the incident. The first video starts with a Frontier employee politely telling a woman sitting by the window that she has to put on the mask that has been provided to her.
The woman completely ignores her, despite the employee’s repeated attempts to address her.
“I’m speaking to you,” the employee says. “You have to wear your mask the whole entire flight. If you’re unable to do so, you will be removed from the flight.”
With no response, the Frontier worker leaves, and the woman leans over the passenger next to her and says “Thanks, a—hole.”
The employee returns and instructs the woman to get off the plane, but she still fails to comply.
“You agreed to this when you checked into your flight and you bought your ticket,” she says, referring to Frontier’s mask policy. “So I need you to come off the aircraft at this time.”

In a follow up video, two security guards come on board to retrieve the passenger’s carry-on bag and escort her off the plane. As they reach the front, the whole plane erupts in applause, with people yelling out their thanks and a couple even bid her farewell with a “Bye, Karen!”
This is hardly an isolated incident. Over 900 passengers have been banned from future flights on Delta, United, and Alaska Airlines alone this year over a refusal to wear face masks. The travel industry has undoubtedly taken a hit this year, and airlines are doing what they can to restore faith in their safety procedures and requirements, as we don’t know at this point how long masking will be a necessary precaution when around groups of strangers.

And with Florida reporting a spike of over 17,000 new cases of COVID-19 in a single day at the end of last month, Tampa certainly doesn’t need the risk.
Now if only stores were able to enforce mask policies with the same vigor, perhaps we’d have been able to slow the spread of the virus by now.
