21 Things Redditors Believe Americans Can’t Live Without

People from other countries have a lot of opinions about Americans, largely influenced by the entertainment Hollywood pumps out and undoubtedly also the crazy news stories that are constantly coming out of all 50 states (but mostly Florida, let’s be real).

But one Redditor was curious enough to try to compile some of those opinions in one place, to see what the most pervasive ideas regarding, specifically, things people from outside of the United States “assume all Americans can’t live without.”

The responses were enlightening and a little bit embarrassing in some cases. But in proper Reddit fashion, a high number of upvotes suggest that at least some of these may be common opinions, so read on and see if you agree with what everyone is out there thinking.

Convenience. Where I am from all the shops close early, and things will take days to be delivered. From what I read on here, it sounds like you can just get whatever you want any time of day.

Climate controlled housing. Edit: RIP my inbox. I live in Australia so I do know about temperature extremes. And we do have gas heating and one wall-mounted AC unit. Nevertheless, fully ducted AC/heating that just runs all the time does seem like a bit of an American thing.

“Justice.” Like: “You did something I consider wrong, so f—k you, you deserve everything bad that could happen to you.” That’s an impression I got on reddit, no matter the political stance btw.. Works well if you want to have the occasional war for petty reasons, I guess.
