Church Elder Shames Teen For Being ‘Too Fat’ To Wear Shorts In Resurfaced Video

19-year-old Jenna Munger caught an older woman on camera at her church in North Carolina fat-shaming her for wearing shorts after cornering her in the bathroom. The clip was recently posted to r/PublicFreakouts by u/B-L-O-C-K-S, but the incident actually took place in 2019, according to reports from Inside Edition.

Munger attends Swansboro United Methodist Church, where she sings in the choir. She says that when she left the stage one Sunday to go to the rest room, this lady followed her, so you know it’s going to be unhinged. No one who confronts you in a bathroom is going to be reasonable.

“She had gotten up from her seat in the audience,” Munger said. “This is all happening during church, of course, so it was crazy.”

The woman called Munger a “chubby girl” who and she advised her to wear an “appropriate, longer dress.”

“So you’re sitting here calling me fat?” Munger asks.

“You don’t think you are?” the woman asks, which seems like a question she should pose to the mirror.

“No, because I f-cking love who I am,” Munger answers. She tells the lady to leave her alone, but the older broad persists.

“Don’t come back on that stage with those shorts,” she says to Munger. “I’m warning you.”

Munger had actually recently lost 30 pounds. She’d been struggling with depression, ADD, and a thyroid condition. Though, even if she hadn’t this woman’s opinion was totally noxious and unnecessary. And apparently she’d been targeting Munger for some time, complaining about her shorts to the church’s band director.

“I have always struggled with my weight for the entire time I’ve been alive, it’s always been up and down, up and down, and so hearing that from someone who is either the same weight or even a little bit bigger than me looking at me and saying you’re fat … it’s like, what?” Munger said.

A senior pastor at the church offered a statement, saying, “We are shocked and saddened by this act. The church is supposed to be a place of safety, love and acceptance.”
