Ted Cruz has proven himself to be a spineless jellyfish over the last few years, thanks to his continued support of President Trump, and has rightly earned the ire of people across the country again and again with his pathetic antics.

Most recently, even George Clooney took a swing at the Texas senator during a New York Times interview.
The conversation turned from Clooney’s new movie, The Midnight Sky, to mask-wearing, and how the United States has utterly failed the control the spread of COVID-19 thanks to Trump and his fellow Republicans’ decision to politicize masks.

Interviewer Kyle Buchanan then asked the actor what he thinks about the possibility that Joe Biden will be able to find a way to lessen the divide between Democrats and Republicans, at least in Washington, D.C., and actually reach across the aisle to get things done.
“The world is different now,” Clooney replied. “I mean, Ted Cruz, think about what a yutz this guy is! I don’t care what your political view is: If a guy said that my wife was ugly and my father killed Kennedy, there is no way in the world you could have me come out and say, ‘I’ll defend you.’”
Clooney is referring, of course, to the time Cruz and Trump spent on the campaign trail leading up to the 2016 election. Both were contenders for the Republican nomination, and Trump had no problem insulting Cruz and his family over and over again. But as the face-off between Trump and Hillary Clinton drew closer, Cruz opted to throw his support behind the former reality star, and he’s never looked back.
Even now, after Trump has lost the election, Cruz is still among the Republicans in D.C. making a show of supporting him and pre-emptively strategizing against Biden, as if these bold moves will pay off in the end.

“Every single one of these guys have aspirations for bigger things — Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Mike Pence, all of them,” Clooney continued. “Think they people will travel with them because, ‘I’ve stuck with you, Don,’ but the truth is, they won’t. They stay with Donald because Donald, for all of his immense problems as a human being, is a charismatic carnival barker.”
Clooney very well may have a point, especially considering that Trump has a history of ferociously turning on those who have been loyal to him the very second he feels slighted, and turning his supporters on them as well.
Will that happen with Cruz? Time will tell. But no matter what, he’ll always, always, always be the “yutz” who surrendered his backbone and his career to the guy who insulted his wife.
