The woman who accused musician Keyon Harrold’s teen son of stealing her iPhone in New York over the holidays is apparently facing an investigation by the police over the encounter.

Harrold and his son had just come down to the Arlo Hotel lobby when a woman now being dubbed ‘SoHo Karen’ saw the 14-year-old’s iPhone and said it was hers, despite seemingly having a different case, based on the interaction Harrold recorded.

The footage showed her frantically insisting that the hotel manager take the phone from the teen, despite both father and son saying it didn’t belong to her. When that failed, the woman attempted to block them from leaving the lobby, and Harrold says that after the camera went off, she accosted both of them. Her phone was later found by an Uber driver.
The incident went viral over the weekend, and now both the Manhattan District Attorney and the NYPD are looking into the matter, according to The Daily Mail.

“The parents of @KeyonHarrold Jr. and I are calling on @ManhattanDA to bring charges of assault and battery against the woman who attacked Keyon and falsely accused him of stealing her phone at @ArloHotels,” tweeted Harrold’s attorney, Ben Crump.

Hotel security allegedly allowed the woman to leave the scene before police, called by the hotel manager after her behavior turned more aggressive, arrived. This may be complicating the matter of pressing charges, as it’s unclear whether the woman has been identified yet. Internet sleuths have been doing their own investigation into her identity, but so far only seem to have turned up incorrect results.
The teen’s mother, Katty Rodriguez, posted to Instagram yesterday telling people they would “share the guilty party when we properly ID them” but asking that people refrain from making false accusations until then, as that is what happened to her son.
