Weeks later, the people who participated in the attempted coup at the Capitol on January 6 are still being tracked down and arrested by the FBI thanks to so few of them covering their faces before and during the riot. The latest big name to get scooped up is Simone Gold, who you may remember as the ER doctor who was fired after she touted hydroxychloroquine as a treatment for COVID-19 after Trump did the same.

This was weeks after the FDA did a 180 on its emergency authorization of the drug for use related to COVID, which happened because multiple studies found that it not only didn’t help but was causing severe cardiac episode in patients.

Gold was arrested after she told The Washington Post that yes, that was her in the photograph on the Rotunda floor speaking into a megaphone. Someone also obtained video of her speaking, though little can be understood among the chaos other than what sounds like “massive medical establishment.”

The former medical professional claims that the attempted coup was not a riot and was, in fact, “incredibly peaceful.” At the same time, she said she regrets being there.

Dozens of people were injured and five killed during the insurrection, and video was obtained of Trump supporters beating Capitol police with American flag poles.

Additionally, Gold and the communications director for the anti-vaccine, COVID-denying group America’s Frontline Doctors, John Strand, can be seen in a video with a visibly violent crowd. They along with others were “attempting to push past multiple officers blocking the entrance to the Capitol, which had visibly broken windows at the time,” according to the criminal complaint against the pair.

Just before the assault on the Capitol, Gold gave a speech to the MAGA crowd calling the virus that has killed over 410,000 people in the U.S. so far “non-lethal.”

Gold has been charged with entering “Restricted Building or Grounds” and with “Violent Entry and Disorderly Conduct,” according to the U.S. Department of Justice. Along with many of the insurrectionists, she was released “on conditions” after being arrested in California on January 18.

Trump supporter and Beverly Hills salon owner Gina Michelle Bisignano was also arrested. She had made headlines back in November after footage of her yelling homophobic slurs at an anti-lockdown rally in Los Angeles went viral, after which people review-bombed her business and deemed her “lockdown Karen.”
