The topic of statues commemorating some of history’s greatest villains masquerading as heroes has been a hot one for some time. History is written by the victors and the victors are often quite murderous!

Over the summer, during protests against police violence via the Black Lives Matter movement, the issue came up again. Some protestors took it upon themselves to knock down the statues of Confederate generals and enslavers. Others were voluntarily removed by local officials.

Now, the city of Chicago is reviewing who is being given a podium to stand on. Thoughtful consideration is anathema to the Fox News network, so of course there was an angry segment about it starring anchor Bill Hemmer.
Hemmer’s co-anchor Dana Perino read from the city’s statement on the initiative, which says the plan is designed to “grapple with the unacknowledged — or often forgotten history” of the land and to develop ways to memorialize Chicago in public spaces that is equitable and accurate.
“Forty-one Chicago monuments are under review,” added reporter Carley Shimkus. “Five are of Abraham Lincoln in Illinois — the land of Lincoln. His statue might be removed from the city.”
This discussion lead Hemmer to reflect on the importance of keeping statues of presidents up everywhere.

“If they start canceling American presidents, they’ll come after Bible characters next,” said Hemmer. “Mark my words, right?”
Well, at least he admitted they’re made up.
People are finding Hemmer’s comment funny, inconsistent, or just plain weird. Even other Christians:

It’s unfortunate that Hemmer will probably catch more flack from angry Christians than he will for being a moron, but that’s Fox News for ya.
