An elementary school teacher may soon be out of a job after a report that she forced a kindergartener to clean out a feces-filled toilet with his bare hands after it backed up.

Ashley Murry went public with the allegations after her 5-year-old son, Ashton, told her what had happened during class at Crystal Hill Elementary School.

“It’s degrading for a child, so I don’t feel like any child should have to go through this,” she said. “They made him go in the toilet and get his feces and the dirty tissue out of the toilet.”
A GoFundMe set up for the family says that Ashton “has been traumatized and will need counseling” for what happened, and his grandmother says that she anticipates “it will cause him to have anxiety, he keeps telling everyone what happened!”
“This child is 5 years old in kindergarten!!!” Tami Murry wrote. “He is a young black male and this was done to degrade him, belittle him…I don’t know if it’s racism or pure dislike for him, but something isn’t right!!!!!”

According to Ashley, Ashton’s teacher called her and admitted to everything he said happened, but said “she didn’t have an explanation, she just knew she was wrong.”

“But she stated to the principal that she was trying to teach how not to stop up the toilet,” Ashley said.
To make the situation even more bizarre, a parent of another kindergartener at the same school said a different teacher did the same thing to her daughter at the start of the school year.

“This is a common occurrence at this school it seems,” the anonymous mother said. “I told them ‘I pay my taxes so you can have janitors at the school, not kids unclogging toilets.’”
She says she has since reported the incident to Pulaski County Special School District.
While that incident is supposedly still under investigation, it seems the school district is moving ahead with ending Ashton’s teacher’s employment. The woman’s husband has also had to close down his pizza place after they started receiving death threats.
“She needs to be terminated because you don’t treat kids like this,” Ashley said. “He is a kid.”
