Student Ambushes Ted Cruz And Madison Cawthorn To Ask About Cancun, Hitler’s Retreat Pics

Some political representatives may refuse to take responsibility for their questionable actions, but the beauty of social media is how easy it is for people to troll them online demanding that they do.

And every once in awhile, that trolling carries on over into real life in pretty great ways.

Political science student Noah Mitchell ran into both Ted Cruz and Madison Cawthorn in Washington, D.C., and managed to capture a little snippet of how uncomfortable they were with one simple question each.

In each video, Mitchell pretends he wants to snap a selfie with the Republican in question, getting both them and himself in frame before asking what he wants to know.

With Cruz, it’s the question that’s been on everyone’s mind since he ditched Texas in the middle of a winter storm to go on vacation.

“How was Cancun, Senator?” Mitchell asks.

Cruz laughs uncomfortably, then gets the hell out of there after Mitchell makes it clear that he really wants to know, telling him to “take care” as he walks away, no longer smiling.

Cawthorn, who’s already drummed up plenty of controversy since being sworn into office earlier this year, found himself in possibly an even more awkward situation.

The young Senator posted photos of himself at Hitler’s vacation home to Instagram back in 2017, claiming that visiting that specific location has been on his “bucket list for a while.”

“Strange to hear so many laughs and share such a good time with my brother where only 79 years ago a supreme evil shared laughs and good times with his compatriots,” he wrote at the time.

He also referred to Hitler as “the Fuhrer,” and the combination of all these things gave members of the Jewish community pause when it was first unearthed. Cawthorn, of course, dismissed that concern.

In yesterday’s video, Mitchell asked what it was like, visiting Hitler’s house.

“Nope, didn’t go there,” Cawthorn replied, taking his leave.

When Mitchell asked for clarification on the Instagram posts, the Senator called back: “That, I believe, was the retreat.”

This isn’t the first time Mitchell has stopped a Republican to pretend to take a selfie.

Although, Marjorie Taylor Greene didn’t even get a fake question when the student encountered her out and about in D.C.

“You are a joke,” he told her in January, the day before the Capitol riot. “Have a good one. You are a joke.”
