Some on Twitter are speculating that the reason Donald Trump Jr. is holding his Dr. Seuss book so strangely in an Instagram photo is to cover up the part of the book that says it’s “in English and Spanish.”

The Trumps don’t exactly have a positive track record when it comes to Spanish-speaking folks and tend to react to inclusivity like it’s the spawn of Satan.

Also, this is not a normal way to hold a book:
In fact, it looks like Don Jr.’s kid is already holding up the book, and appears old enough to do so by himself, but Don just happens to be covering up the part that might mark the book as being bilingual. Curious.

The man who became a public figure due to his proximity to the former and one-term president is posing with a Dr. Seuss book because, as you’ve likely heard, Dr. Seuss Enterprises decided to end the printing of six of their most racist books. Despite the fact that this was an independent decision by the company that produces these books, conservatives were kicked up into full “cancel culture” hysteria.
The books in question were chosen for retirement due to their starkly racist depictions of people of color, particularly east Asian and Black characters. None of them count among favorites like The Cat in the Hat because they don’t have minstrel-show-style depictions of Black people in them.
Regardless, Republicans have already been in full faux outrage mode over things like plastic potato toys, so why not weird old racist rhyming books, too? They’ve already blown up poster-sized versions of these children’s book covers to rant in congress about how Joe Biden wants to cancel whimsy or something.

Still, even many Trump critics were willing to be charitable to Don Jr. on this one considering the fact that he just doesn’t seem to take a good photo.
