Jeanine Pirro of Fox News slipping into full Nazi-style racism while arguing with Geraldo Rivera over Joe Biden’s decision to allow asylum seekers into the U.S. again, reversing Donald Trump’s cruel “remain in Mexico” policy.

This move has conservatives suddenly concerned about COVID-19 after a full year of following Trump’s lead on pretending it’s no big deal and we should let everyone cram into sweaty bars and breathe on each other.

Pirro, however, accidentally let a bit of her inner xenophobe show after being pressed on this point a bit by fellow Fox News contributor Rivera.
“We’ve got people being released at the border right now who’ve got COVID,” Pirro shouted. “Wait a minute, I listened to you, you listen to me! They’ve got COVID! They’ve got all kinds of diseases! They are being released into the United States! Now, you’re not going to tell me that a governor is going to shut me down and not allow me to do my job and let in illegals because we’ve got a heart?”

As far as we know, Pirro does not work in immigration, nor has any governor been successful in shutting down either Fox News or Jeanine Pirro’s segment.
Declaring that immigrants are “diseased” is a well-worn page straight out of the Nazi playbook, though its roots go back centuries and likely millennia in the human history of racism and general fear of the other. In reality, the only reason that migrants would be more likely to have COVID-19 or any other illness is that U.S. policy forces them into tightly-packed cages that are kept cold for no reason beyond increasing human misery.
The “remain in Mexico” policy was even worse, as the Mexican government offered little protection for asylum seekers waiting at the border who had to deal with kidnappings as almost a routine part of life.

Pirro has been suspended from Fox News before after airing bigoted rants on camera. In 2019, she got this slap on the wrist after showing her Islamophobia in a tirade against favorite conservative target Representative Ilhan Omar.
“Is her adherence to this Islamic doctrine indicative of her adherence to Shariah law, which in itself is antithetical to the United States Constitution?” she asked.
Considering the fact that the network lets Tucker Carlson stay on air, it seems unlikely that Pirro will face lasting consequences for these latest racist comments. In fact, this may be part of an overall conservative effort to blame future surges in the pandemic on immigrants after Republican governors started ending mask mandates and opening their state’s “100 percent,” as Greg Abbott said.
