Piers Morgan Quit “Good Morning Britain” After Meghan Markle Storm-Off

If you know anything about Piers Morgan it’s probably that he is horrible, because he is extremely public about it. He dedicates both his Twitter account and most of his air time on Good Morning Britain to letting everyone know he has very strong opinions, particularly about women.

For pretty much her entire public connection with the Royal Family, Meghan Markle has been the recipient of Piers Morgan’s negative attention.

On Sunday, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry had an interview with Oprah Winfrey, in which she admitted to having experienced suicidal thoughts during her marriage and pregnancy and that she was refused help by “the establishment” that is the British Royal Family.

Morgan wasted no time opining on this, and one Monday morning, Variety reports he was attacking Markle on his show again:

Who did you go to? What did they say to you? I’m sorry, I don’t believe a word she said, Meghan Markle. I wouldn’t believe it if she read me a weather report.

Apparently, the channel received over 41,0000 complaints about Morgan’s comments, and on Tuesday morning, the show’s weatherman Alex Beresford openly criticized him on air:

Later, he apologized for some of his comments about Markle’s mental health history, saying, “Let me just state for the record on my position on mental illness and on suicide: these are clearly extremely serious things and should be taken extremely seriously and if someone is feeling that way, they should get the treatment and the help they need every time. And if they belong to an institution like the Royal Family and they go and seek that help they should absolutely be given it.”

He also made sure to state he still questioned the “veracity” of much of what Markle said during her interview.

And now, Piers Morgan has quit:

And no one is sorry to see him go. The day feels quite celebratory, in fact:

It’s probably only a matter of time before Morgan ends up on Fox News or some other wildly popular and demented YouTube channel for “silenced conservative voices,” but today is a beautiful day. As the British say (maybe), Good riddance to bad rubbish!
