They allege that he was not only in the Capitol, but assaulted officers and was involved in actually breaking into the building.
The former State Department aide is the first member of the Trump administration to be directly linked to the riots and subsequently slapped with felony charges for their part.
Klein’s history with Trump dates back to 2016 when he worked on the former president’s campaign.
Prior to that, he had worked on other campaigns for the Republican Party and at one point served in the marines.
According to the FBI, he was still working for the federal government when the insurrection attempt took place. He also held top-secret clearance up until 2019.

His mother told Politico that Klein was in Washington, D.C., on the day of the riot, though she had been left with the impression that he wasn’t actually at the Capitol.
“Fred’s politics burn a little hot, but I’ve never known him to violate the law,” she said. “While I believe, as he said, he was on the Mall that day, I don’t have any evidence, nor will I ever ask him, unless he tells me, where he was after he was on the Mall.”
The reaction to news of Klein’s arrest is one of curiosity, with folks wondering who exactly is this former Trump appointee willing to storm the Capitol over his voter fraud lies.
