Lindsey Graham Mocked Over Gun Video Promoting Assault Weapons

Lindsey Graham took to Twitter on Thursday to pander to his pro-gun base — and it’s not going too well for him.

While the GOP line usually involves the false claim that Democrats are trying to take away all of everyone’s guns, everyone’s least favorite senator took a moment to almost acknowledge something closer to the actual truth — that most of the people pushing for better gun control just think civilians shouldn’t own certain assault weapons.

But Graham apparently really, really wants everyone to be able to do just that.

So much so, in fact, that he uploaded a video of himself shooting one.

In 1994, there was an Assault Weapons Ban – the evidence indicates that there was really no change at all in crime, because the crooks are going to get a gun!

Considering how many mass shootings take place in the United States, and how many of those have involved the use of these guns that go far beyond what’s necessary for protection or sport, critics who want stricter gun control weren’t buying it.

This is verifiably false and Sen. Graham knows it.

— 70% decline in assault weapons traced to gun crimes

Republicans like Graham can keep holding onto their fantasies that they’re one day going to be the mythical “good guy with a gun” they keep hailing as a hero, roaming the country and fighting off bad guys with their atrociously large weapon, but in the real world, the rest of us would just like to be able to do things like go to school and the grocery store without worrying about dying.

And watching a dumb video of an old, unliked man firing a gun not only isn’t going to change that, it isn’t going to do anything at all.
