New Jersey Woman Goes On Transphobic Rant And Her Vice Principal Husband Throws Beer At People To ‘Defend’ Her

Lisa Smurro was having an aggressive and loud conversation with her husband, Michael, in an outdoor dining space last weekend, apparently upset over a transgender woman using the women’s bathroom at the restaurant. At one point, she started spewing her issues at people at a table nearby, and that’s when a woman who goes by the name Peach CC on Facebook started recording.

“This is a new thing now, that it’s cool to be this, it’s cool to be transgender. Oh it’s cool to be this, no it’s not,” Lisa says. “You’re born a woman or a man.”

Lisa eventually leaves the table briefly but returns, still going off on her transphobic rant.

“What has this world gone to?” she laments. “You’re a man or a woman. Jesus Christ.”

Lisa and her husband get up to leave, beers in hand, and finally realize they’re being recorded. Rather than be deterred by this new info, Lisa speaks directly to the camera, reiterating her claims that it’s “not right” to have a trans woman in the woman’s bathroom.

Her husband pulls her away, but that still isn’t the end of it. The couple has to pass the outdoor table again on their way towards the parking lot, and Lisa opts to stop and ask if they have anything to say to her about her nonsense.

A waitress passing by gets involved, asking Lisa to stop because there’s a child nearby, something Peach CC, her boyfriend, and other people nearby had pointed out several times. Instead, Lisa just reiterates “she’s a man” over and over again, referring to the bathroom incident, and the frustrated waitress goes off to get her manager when Lisa refuses to stop.

As soon as she leaves, Michael, who had been farther into the parking lot and not engaging, comes back and immediately throws his beer at a nearby table.

“Now you can come out,” he says, motioning to the person to come into the parking lot, as if he’s trying to pick a fight.

After the video went viral and the couple was identified, Lisa doubled down on her transphobia, insisting “this all began because somebody was in a bathroom that they shouldn’t have been in.”

“He, she, whatever it was that day, it came into the women’s bathroom that they shouldn’t have,” she told BreakingAC.com.

However, it was soon uncovered that Michael works as a vice principal at Neptune Middle School in Monmouth County, New Jersey, and the incident called his suitability for the job into question.

“This event is trouble as its perception potentially threatens the social-emotional well-being and climate of belonging that our Neptune School District community represents,” the district said in a statement, although they declined to say whether Michael would face any repercussions for his actions.

For his part, Michael told the Associated Press that he “should have simply walked away” rather than throw his beer, insisting he usually has “sound judgment” and making no note of his wife’s rampant and aggressive transphobia.
