Ted Nugent Tests Positive For COVID-19 After A Year Of Pandemic Denial

Ted Nugent announced in a Facebook Live stream that he officially has COVID-19, referring to it as “the Chinese s–t” because he’s racist. After over a year of claiming that there was no coronavirus pandemic, refusing to believe the massive death toll counts coming from multiple reliable sources, and calling people “sheep” for wearing masks, the singer is learning firsthand just how bad the illness can get.

“I have had flu symptoms for the last ten days,” he told his fans. “I thought I was dying. Just a clusterf—.”

“My God, what a pain in the a–,” he continued. “I literally could hardly crawl out of bed the last few days.”

He did, however, crawl out of bed to get a COVID test, and it came back positive. In spite of dealing with a “stuffed-up head” and “body aches,” he still says he will refuse to get the vaccine and continued to push falsehoods about it.

“Nobody knows what’s in it,” he falsely claimed. “If you can’t even honestly answer our questions of exactly what’s in it and why are you testing it on human beings and forcing it on people in such a short period of time?”

Fact check: We know what’s in the vaccine, and it’s working with few reports of dangerous side effects.

Nugent is now quarantining, so apparently, he at least believes in that, but this action falls well short of what many would need to forgive him after turning into a COVID-denying Trump supporter. He was one of the right-wing public figures who spread the conspiracy theory about the pandemic being a “scam” of some kind and encouraged his many fans to defy related restrictions, undoubtedly leading to the further spread of the deadly virus.

He has also embraced the racist position of blaming China for a virus that happened to originate there, continuing to do so even after reports of increased violence against AAPI individuals spread widely and a recent mass shooting appeared to target Asian American women.

In another Facebook Live video he did shortly after Christmas 2020, he also claimed that “there’s no systemic racism in America,” but that there is “systemic racism in Black Lives Matter” while blaming George Floyd for his own death at the hands of the police.

We don’t think Nugent knows what the word “systemic” means.
