An organization dedicated to “taking down Ron DeSantis in 2022” flew a large banner reading “Tick Tock Matt Gaetz” over the U.S. District Court in Orlando, Florida where Joel Greenberg was pleading guilty to sex trafficking charges as part of his plea agreement with the prosecution.

Greenberg is a known associate of Rep. Matt Gaetz, who reportedly had contact with a number of young women and at least one underage girl and made payments to them through the man who now stands guilty of trafficking.

As the story unfolded and the news came out that Greenberg would be cooperating with investigators in order to get favorable treatment, many came to the conclusion that Gaetz would soon be going down in flames with him.
Though Gaetz and his spokespeople have offered up various denials, Greenberg admitted to introducing a “minor to other adult men, who engaged in commercial sex acts” with the child, according to the Independent. He also pleaded guilty to five other felonies and agreed to testify against other targets of the Justice Department in exchange for 27 other charges being dropped and a lenient sentence if he does a good enough job.

Gaetz was not specifically named in Greenberg’s guilty plea or any of the plea deal documents presented by the prosecution, but data obtained by journalists as well as multiple drafts of a confession written by Greenberg in hopes of gaining a pardon from Donald Trump don’t make things look good for the congressman.
Those who have been critical of Gaetz for his adamant support of Trump, including through his denial of the 2020 election results that led directly to an attempted coup, can’t help but enjoy the show.

Gaetz himself may find himself accused of violating U.S. sex trafficking laws if any of the various groups investigating him right now can prove that he indeed sent money to fly these women, or in particular, the at-the-time 17-year-old girl, across state lines. He is currently under investigation by the Justice Department as well as by the House Ethics Committee, which also suspects him of using illicit drugs in connection to the alleged trafficking as well as accepting bribes, appropriating campaign funds for personal use, and misusing state identification records.
The “Remove Ron” campaign believes that this plea deal is the first domino to fall in a line that will hit multiple Florida Republicans, including the governor and, obviously, Gaetz. Their victory lap with the banner successfully caught a lot of attention and praise from other critics of these men.
