A hat shop in Tennessee called hatWRKS is getting criticized across the internet for several posts on Instagram about yellow star anti-vaxx patches that resemble the identifiers Jewish people were forced to wear in Nazi-era Germany. The first post shows an unidentified woman wearing the patch, with the caption advertising their sale.

“[P]atches are here!!” it read. “They turned out great. $5 ea. Strong adhesive back… We’ll be offering trucker caps soon.”
The post has since been deleted, but not before it was screenshot and distributed widely on Twitter.

The hatWRKS’ Instagram account posted a follow-up message to all the people calling them disgusting, anti-semitic cretins, and it’s kind of word soup:
“People are so outraged by my post? but are you outraged with the tyranny the world is experiencing? if you don’t understand what is happening, that is on you, not me. i pay much more respect to history by standing up with the fallen than offering silence & compliance,” the statement said. that is the worse [sic] crime. it was then & is now. i will delete your disgust and hope you put it where it belongs.”
The Nazi star comparison isn’t coming completely out of nowhere, as the most bananas conservatives in Congress have been pushing that rhetoric on the floor and online. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) recently compared mask mandates in the House of Representatives to laws under the Third Reich.
“You know, we can look back at a time in history when people were told to wear a gold star, and they were definitely treated like second-class citizens, so much so that they were put in trains and taken to gas chambers in Nazi Germany,” she said in an interview with Christian Broadcasting Network. “And this is exactly the type of abuse that [House Speaker] Nancy Pelosi is talking about.”
She also made a comparison to a worker badge featuring vaccination confirmation to wearing the star on Twitter:

Not that we should be looking for consistent logic from these people, but wouldn’t that mean people refusing the vaxx would NOT wear a star, by Greene’s own comparison?
