Some guy on Twitter had a bad day after attacking LEGO for an ad showing an adult man building a Star Wars set, denouncing the “trend of grown men playing with children’s toys.” Though he doesn’t have much of a following, his tweet caught the attention of many an adult who enjoys occasionally having fun and doesn’t appreciate Twitter randos making them feel bad for playing with “toys,” whether they be LEGOs, video games, models, sports balls, or anything else that could technically be called a toy.

The drama started after LEGO advertised its Imperial Probe Droid set in late April, which no one else seemed to have a problem with until this guy found it two weeks later.

For some unknown reason, he tagged Lauren Chen, a right-wing YouTuber and Blaze TV host, asking if men playing with LEGOs is attractive, even though the answer is clearly “yes,” especially if they’ve built the entire Death Star set.

When people began to reply saying that it’s not a “trend” and that adults have been playing with toys, whether designed for children or not, for the entirety of human history, and that people need to relax and relieve stress in whatever manner best suits them, Mr. ABfield got a little upset. He addressed the “fascinating responses from North American adults” by suggesting that men might start using pacifiers to relieve stress, accidentally revealing that he’s never been to a single rave.

This reply did not help him with the problem of getting piled on by people who are tired of being told how they’re allowed to spend their free time as supposedly free adults. Many pointed out that LEGO has long been advertised to both children and adults for decades, and model building in particular has been a common hobby among grown men for ages, whether it be ships, planes, trains, or fictional space droids.

However, more folks were just baffled about why some joyless dude would need to try and spread his misery around by attempting to shame people for having fun in the way they happen to prefer.

Perhaps the saddest part of this story is when someone asked the OP for a list of fun adult activities he considers to be acceptable, and what he provided was deeply depressing.

Chores are not leisure activities, sports are not useful, and not everything you do has to have some larger purpose or be for other people. Please, pick up a toy and make spaceship noises. You might just like it.
