Former Vice President Mike Pence is still making the rounds amongst evangelical Christians. He might not be so excited to show up and mouth platitudes anymore, after he was harassed on Friday at the conservative Faith & Freedom conference. Forbes reported that he was initially greeted with applause, but a Donald Trump fan decided he was actually the enemy.

One of their journalists, Andrew Solender, shared footage of the brief outburst:

When Trump was in office (and now) evangelical Christians were amongst his staunchest supporters, serving as a base for his campaign. When he lost to Joe Biden, there were many direct and indirect threats made towards Mike Pence, whose job it was to oversee the certification of Biden’s Electoral College win.
We all remember January 6th—though Trump sent his goons to storm the Capitol, Pence did not overturn the election and spark another Civil War. He did get threatened by the MAGA heads wandering around, so I bet he’s pretty sensitive about being called a traitor still.
But Pence seemed to ignore the voice, and NBC News reporter Ali Vitali tweeted that it was just one woman, who was escorted out of the event:

“I’m a Christian, a conservative and a Republican, in that order,” said Pence, over the hubub.
“Every single day, we defended the god given liberties enshrined in our Constitution,” he added.
“President Trump and I have spoken many times since we left office. And I don’t know if we’ll ever see eye to eye on that day,” Pence said during a GOP event earlier in June, so maybe the threats have continued.
Solender writes that Pence is supposed to be the candidate to beat in the 2024 presidential election, but there may not be the support necessary to bring him to victory from the Trump world. Clearly, a significant portion of them think Pence should have violated the Constitution, not defended it.
