GOP Representative Madison Cawthorn is popular amongst Republicans for looking slightly less like a melted candle than most of his colleagues. Will that be enough to make him president one day? Who knows, but the man clearly doesn’t know enough to lead a social studies class, let alone a country.

A viral video posted by Twitter user @RonFilipkowski shows Cawthorn bungling history.

“Imagine if we had George Washington trying to get the British to capitulate in Yorktown, except he had a mask on his face,” said Cawthorn in the clip.
Okay. I am imagining it. I am not making any connections whatsoever to the reality of life in 2021, but I see Washington still winning the war.
“That’s not who we’re descended from,” Cawthorn continues. “We’re descended from men and women of valor who stood up for their own personal liberty and that’s what my friends and colleagues were doing on the House floor yesterday. I do believe it’s time for us to be leaders on this.”
In March, Cawthorn did remove his mask while making a speech on the floor of the House, the American Independent reports, and he seems to be desperately clinging to his anti-mask grift as mandates begin to lift across the country anyway. But it is an interesting thought exercise. Would the Revolutionary army have refused to wear masks to prevent the spread of disease, and more specifically, would George Washington have flouted basic public health measures.
We don’t really have to guess, because it’s on record that Washington made vaccinations for smallpox MANDATORY, which would blow the top of Cawthorn’s head off.
The reactions to the video online bring that up, and plenty of other choice words for the Representative:

In the past, Cawthorn has said that the “Left” loves masks because they’re “soy boy cowards,” but I don’t think anyone loves masks more than Cawthorn. Without them, what will he have to talk about?
