Andrew Giuliani, son of former Trump attorney and walking human PR nightmare Rudy Giuliani, announced his candidacy for governor of New York in a press conference that was nearly as bad as the whole Four Seasons fiasco. It appears that being the physical embodiment of the concept known as “gaffe” doesn’t skip a generation.

During the short press conference, Andrew managed to forget what to call the Statue of Liberty, calling it “Miss Manhattan,” bizarrely promised that “any community that has a charter school will get a charter school,” admitted he’s not vaccinated, and called New York “that shining skate on a hill.”

These mistakes, including a very early stumble over what he was running for, were made into a supercut by The Recount that seems a perfect fit for the family of Rudy Giuliani.
Andrew did have more to say other than “Miss Manhattan,” saying that he has a “vision” for New York.
“We can make New York, truly, the beacon of hope in the world,” he said. “I look forward to going across the state, and showing New Yorkers exactly why and how I am qualified for this. But the truth is, I have a vision, and I know that I can get this done.”
His qualifications include a career as a golfer until he was hired onto the Trump administration in 2017, serving as an associate director for the Office of Public Liaison. During this time, he played a lot of golf with Trump, and back in March was hired to be a contributor to Newsmax TV.
Since his initial announcement about his candidacy, Giuliani has managed to compare himself to Muhammad Ali, or possibly Joe Frazier, in an interview with the New York Post.
“I’m a politician out of the womb. It’s in my DNA,” he said. “Giuliani vs. Cuomo. Holy smokes. It’s Muhammad Ali vs. Joe Frazier. We can sell tickets at Madison Square Garden.”
Andrew doesn’t have quite as much experience in politics as either of those fighters did in boxing, but you get the picture.
The younger Giuliani also expressed that he’s not going to hide from his history working with Donald Trump and that the former president has been helping him strategize his campaign. Even better, he’s promised that much of his strategy will come straight out of the Giuliani playbook.

“What I can tell you is, there’s no more effective playbook than the Giuliani playbook and we will be implementing the Giuliani playbook to make sure that we continue to turn around New York state,” he said at the press conference.
We can’t wait to see it. Considering how the campaign started, we can all expect to hear plenty more about Andrew Giuliani. And the reviews are in:
