Viral Video Shows A Guy Dressed As Spider-Man Punching Out A Woman In A Supermarket

A viral video of a man dressed as Spider-Man shows a shocking amount of violence coming from the friendliest superhero in the MCU. The video footage was shared by ITV News shows, Insider reports, and was taken in the Lavender Hill area of Clapham at an Asda. The Metropolitan Police responded to reports of a disturbance on Thursday night, but the video shows way more than a disturbance.

The fight seems to be taking place in two different locations around the supermarket, the first in the stockroom. There it seems like some sort of costume party brawl is happening, as there’s someone dressed up as Sacha Baron Cohen’s Ali G character and a woman in a Bavarian dirndl dress, plus a guy in a wheelchair getting some whacks in:

Then, the video switches to the interior of the supermarket where Spidey is still freaking out, kicking the air and then punching a woman right in the face, sending her to the ground:

“Oh my god,” someone yells.

The Spider-man was an unnamed 31-year-old man who was arrested for “suspicion of actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm, affray, and violent disorder,” and four other people were arrested as well, two men in their thirties and two teen girls. They remain in custody and a third woman was taken to the hospital with minor injuries. No one has reported what started the fight, but it seems like a wild night.

“We are aware of an incident which occurred at our Clapham Junction store late last night,” said an Asda spokesperson. “We do not tolerate any form of violence or abuse towards colleagues or customers and we are working closely with the police in their inquiries.”

That’s nice, but I can’t imagine anyone would be anticipating a confluence of the events of that night again. Seems like a pretty original situation.
