Woman Goes Viral With Videos Showing The Effect Of Alcohol Abuse On Her Health

Battling addiction is one of the most difficult things a human being can go through, and sadly, sometimes the harm caused to their body from long-term substance abuse isn’t easily healed. But not everyone is aware of that, and a woman on TikTok named Trina Beil wanted to show her followers why they need to get help as soon as possible.

Beil told BuzzFeed that she is now sober, but overcame an addiction to alcohol, meth, and cigarettes. However, her liver has been seriously damaged.

The video is a bit shocking, as Beil shows herself in a bra and underwear, which makes it easy to see how her torso has become distended.

“Hi, guys,” she says in the TikTok video. “This is not food in my stomach. I’m Trina, an alcoholic addict. I’ve been clean off meth for almost two years, and I’m four and a half months sober. I did not listen to my specialist when he told me to stop drinking or I’d have huge liver problems, and—here we are. I got a report yesterday that is not good.”

“When I try to eat or drink anything, it’s super uncomfortable,” she continued. “If you’re questioning whether you should stop drinking, or thinking shit like this could never happen to you…it can. I’m just balls-out here showing you because this is the reality of addiction and alcoholism, and I hope if you’re questioning to stop or not, that you definitely will.”

A lot of people in the comments admitted that they need to see Beil’s post because they have also been struggling to figure out how to stop drinking. They thanked her for sharing something so personal in the hopes that it would help others:

Beil told BuzzFeed that she started taking substances at 24, and her severe liver damage means she is likely in need of a liver transplant. The swelling is called hepatomegaly, and it’s caused by excessive alcohol consumption over a long period of time.

“The reason I kept taking them[substances] was because it numbed all the issues I felt had been suffocating me since I was a young child,” she said. It can be very difficult to change and some people don’t manage to do what Beil has done. It’s admirable that she is using this opportunity to educate others who may not know what road they’re headed down.
