An alarming video of a scene after a school board meeting in Franklin, Tennessee shows a crowd of anti-maskers screaming at and threatening a pair of medical professionals who came to speak in favor of making kids wear masks in schools. The angry mob included a man who called the experts “God abusers” and two men who openly threatened that they would “find” them in front of police officers, who did little to nothing to stop the open threats from being issued or tell them to stop it.

The video was posted by local reporter Natalie Allison, who called Franklin “the wealthiest place in Tennessee,” and it’s now spreading almost as fast as the hyper-contagious delta variant of the coronavirus which is currently sending an increasing number of young children to the hospital.

The mob was waiting for the two individuals who spoke in favor of masking kids in the parking lot and took up the chant of “will not comply” when they emerged. Aggressive men follow them to their car, with the “God abusers” guy screaming that “there is a bad place in hell” for them, “and everybody’s taking notes, buddy.”
As the experts get into their car, the man can be heard clearly shouting threats at them, saying “we know who you are” until another anti-masker approaches to tell him to “keep it calm” and that “the police are on our side.”
This last statement certainly seems to be true as the police standing there do nothing to address the threats, even as the “keep it calm” guy turns to make the exact same kind of threats as the man he told to “calm down.”
“We know who you are,” he says. “You can leave freely, but we will find you.”
“You will never be allowed in public again.”
Finally, the cops ask the men to move and clear a path so that the medical experts can leave, with the crowd shouting in outrage every time they try to move to get out of there.
Scenes like this have become increasingly common as the pandemic rages on, surging yet again as new variants wreck havoc in under-vaccinated communities like Franklin, Tennessee. Anti-masker and anti-vaxxer conservatives have explicitly targeted school board meetings to push their agendas, with educators reeling from threats and angry shouting mobs across the nation.

This problem has become even worse as furious COVID-deniers lose their minds over safety measures being put back into place as COVID case numbers skyrocket again, determined to ignore any semblance of science.
Pro-science people viewing this video on Twitter have expressed alarm at what is happening as well as exhaustion that it is.
