A uniformed man trying to make the argument that the January 6 insurrection/attempted coup to overturn the 2020 election was an “antifa false flag” operation was interrupted by a firefighter who proceeded to absolutely yet somehow respectfully tear the claim to pieces on camera. The video was taken in Washington D.C. near the Capitol, with the Washington Monument in the background, possibly during the recent “Justice for January 6th” rally that turned out to be a total flop attended by only a couple hundred people, if that.

The video begins with the man in what is apparently a fancy firefighter uniform saying that “history will prove me wrong that that was a false flag,” and another guy can be seen in the background looking to be stewing on something until he can’t keep it in any longer.

“Hey, I’m a firefighter, too, and this guy is talking pure bulls–t,” says the man in the yellow hat. “There is no question that what happened on January 6 is the work of people, supporters of Donald Trump, who decided falsely and without any proof that the 2020 election … was fake.”

As he speaks, someone off-camera can be heard asking over and over if he was there, presumably at the insurrection in question.

“Hold on big dog,” the firefighter says to them before confirming that yes, he personally witnessed what happened. He then identified himself as Eric Lamar at the request of the uniformed man, who he proceeded to jab for dressing up like that.

“It would never occur to me to come down here wearing my class A’s,” he says. The uniform man tells Lamar that he’s “entitled” to do that as a retired firefighter himself, but Lamar isn’t finished.

“I’m saying that this, what you’re seeing right here, folks, is part of the problem, and it’s someone, and I almost weep to say this, that is from a highly respected fire department,” he continues. “This guy is a captain, and I have the utmost respect for my brothers and sisters at FDNY and certainly for someone who not only is a captain but, as you can see, looks the part, and he is coming down here today and he is spreading lies.”

Lamar then reiterated that, as we all know, it was Trump supporters who assaulted the Capitol and attacked, beat, injured, and in some cases possibly caused the deaths of fellow people in uniform who those same Trump supporters had long claimed to support.

“And they did it when they went on the Capitol grounds, when they forced their way into the building, when they pushed by police officers, and they beat them, they sprayed them with bear mace, hit them with canes and batons, stole their own equipment. And for my brother, a brother public safety person, to come in here and spin another narrative, and to do it in uniform — it breaks my heart.”

The video ends as the captain appears to attempt to continue the conversation, but at that point there’s not much more to be said.

Commenters on Reddit were widely impressed by Lamar’s impassioned speech and thankful that there was someone around at the rally who was talking sense, particularly in a manner that the captain seemed to respond well to in spite of a pretty thorough roast.
