Videos from a counter-protest to a bunch of “pro-life” folks spreading their usual lies about abortion have gone viral for the young peoples’ innovative methods of fighting back, including bothering the old ladies with the song “Rick & Morty” by artist Soulja Boy and making certain naughty jokes at their expense.

The anti-choice protesters appear to be outside of a reproductive healthcare clinic, holding signs saying things like “It’s not too late to change your mind” as though that’s any of their business. TikTok user Jo filmed a young man as he rapped “Rick & Morty” at the turned back of the woman with this particular sign as she waved to passing cars. This action led Jo and many commenters to refer to him as a hero.

Singing ridiculous or raunchy songs at pro-lifers and street preachers and the like has become a popular form of counter-protest among young people, with benefits ranging from annoying and offending the targets to drowning out their misleading and harmful messages. It can also help to distract them from harassing people trying to access reproductive healthcare services, whether or not they are related to abortion, as pro-lifers have gained a reputation for screaming at anyone who even walks by a clinic like this.

Jo appears to be a regular counter-protester to local anti-choice actions. Days before the “Rick & Morty” video, she captured footage of herself playing a little joke on one of the anti-abortion activists that will likely be familiar to anyone under 40. Seeing Jo limping a bit as she walked by, a woman with a “40 Days for Life” sign tells her to take care of her foot, and the fun begins.

“No, it’s okay, I have ligma,” says Jo.

“What happened to it?” the pro-lifer asks.

“Oh actually I have ligma.”

This goes on for a minute until Jo finally says, as she writes out in the overlay text, “ligmabawls.”

Jo has also captured multiple shots of the local pro-lifers saying explicitly racist things, including using a racial slur against Mexican folks and calling being “brown or whatever color you think you are” a “privilege.” Another man across the street shouts that “it’s the minorities having the abortions.”

Several of Jo’s videos have gone viral, with the “ligma” entry gaining over 6.7 million views. Fans of the show Rick and Morty as well as Soulja Boy are particularly happy with her latest counter-protest video, praising the unnamed man in the comments.

“Thank you for your service,” said one user.

“The Hero we didn’t know we needed,” wrote another.
