Joe Rogan allegedly contracted COVID and treated himself with the drug often used for deworming horses that have been all the rage among anti-vaxxers, which puts everyone in the unfortunate position of having to talk about Joe Rogan again.

The controversial podcaster posted a video to Instagram on Wednesday noting that he felt sick after returning from travels over the weekend. He got a COVID test the next day and says it came back positive.
“We immediately threw the kitchen sink at it,” he said. “All kinds of meds — monoclonal antibodies, ivermectin, Z-Pack, prednisone, everything. And I also got an NAD drip, and a vitamin drip, and I did that three days in a row. And so, here we are, on Wednesday, and I feel great.”

It’s unclear if Rogan has been vaccinated, but he has been publicly dismissive of the vaccine in the past, going so far as to say he would not recommend that a “healthy person” get jabbed, as he doesn’t think they would “need to worry about this.”
However, his own brush with the virus — which so far seems to have been far less intense than most — caused him to send “a wonderful heartfelt thank you to modern medicine for pulling me out of this so quickly and easily.”
Rogan hasn’t spread nearly as much COVID misinformation as others with similar or greater platforms, but he’s still potentially done some damage. And talking about throwing “the kitchen sink” at the virus while noting one of the drugs he took was a widely discredited (and occasionally dangerous) drug often intended for horse deworming, ivermectin, as the FDA is actively trying to get people to stop putting it in their bodies, is something many see as yet another irresponsible use of his fame and followers.

Rogan maintains credibility with conservatives and libertarians by claiming to be open-minded and see things from both sides, although he consistently tends to espouse conservative values and conspiracy theories, and rail against things like science and the “cancelation” of straight, white men (something that, of course, is not real).
At the end of the day, especially when it comes to things like medicine, science, and fighting a pandemic, it’s important to remember that Rogan is a podcaster, a comedian(?), and the former host of Fear Factor — not a scientist or a doctor.
