Megan Rapinoe Claps Back At Trump For Saying US Women’s Soccer Team Lost Because They’re ‘Woke’

Donald Trump is no longer the president, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to stop with the random antagonism of athletes who refused to visit the White House during his tenure. One of those athletes is Megan Rapinoe who refused an invitation in 2019.

At rallies over the last few months, Trump has been informing his followers of the U.S. Women’s soccer team’s losses in games, which for some reason he thinks they care about. During the Tokyo Olympics, the team won the bronze medal, but they had some unexpected losses against other world teams.

After they lost to Canada, Trump released a statement about it, blaming the loss on them being too “woke.”

“If our soccer team, headed by a radical group of Leftist Maniacs, wasn’t woke, they would have won the Gold Medal instead of the Bronze.”

“Woke means you lose, everything that is woke goes bad, and our soccer team certainly has. They should replace the wokesters with Patriots and start winning again. The woman with the purple hair (World Cup MVP Megan Rapinoe) played terribly and spends too much time thinking about Radical Left politics and not doing her job! They should replace the wokesters with Patriots and start winning again.

He specifically talked about Rapinoe by calling her the “woman with purple hair,” saying she played “terribly. ” She didn’t! She actually scored two of the U.S.’s four goals.

On Friday, during an interview with NBC, Rapinoe responded to Trump’s strange statement by saying, “It’s a real sad dig into an old bag. I’m just like, ‘You’re rooting for people to do bad?’ Yikes.”

As to whatever Trump means by “woke,” Rapinoe did agree she’s still going to try to be a decent person.

“I think it’s important for everybody to do whatever they can to make the world a better place,” she said. “We obviously have huge platforms. We get to be at the Olympics.”

Trump will be talking about this for the next three to six months, guaranteed.
