Modern Family fans will definitely remember actor Eric Stonestreet, who played Cameron Tucker on the popular sitcom and has apparently continued to do some interesting stuff with his life—like meeting his soulmate! Stonestreet announced his engagement to long-time girlfriend Lindsay Schweitzer, E! Online reports, posting pictures of them smiling together and showing off that bling.

Schweitzer is a pediatric nurse, and she and Stonestreet met in 2016 at the Big Slick charity event in Kansas City, Missouri. In his posts, Stonestreet joked, “She said, ‘She’d have her people call my people.”

What should have been a passing happy announcement became something of an uproar online instead. Admittedly, the Holding Her Wrist pose is a bit awkward, and there is a huge variation in their expressions. Stonestreet looks oddly distressed and Schweitzer is a big stiff in comparison.

But what really seemed to get people worked up is their seeming age gap, and they started commenting on it, suggesting Stonestreet was old enough to be Schweitzer’s father:

Though way more seemed to be shocked that Stonestreet isn’t a gay man in real life. He’s an actor, people! He’s also someone with a sense of humor.

After the outrage, Stonestreet posted a new photo on Instagram, this time filtering his fiancée to look like she’s in her eighties:

“Apparently a lot of people think I look too old, as a 49-year-old man, to be engaged to my almost 42-year-old fiancé,” he captioned the new pics. “Look, she can’t help that she looks so great at 42 and I can’t help that I apparently look like her grandad so, I fixed it for everyone.”

He’s SEVEN YEARS OLDER?? Well…love is love, I guess.
